The US State Department uses a four-level system for travel advisories:
Level 1 – Exercise Normal Precautions – Standard security environment. Routine travel precautions apply.
Level 2 – Exercise Increased Caution – Heightened risks. Be aware of your surroundings, avoid certain areas, and follow local media.
Level 3 – Reconsider Travel – Serious risks. Avoid travel unless necessary. If you must travel, take extra precautions.
Level 4 – Do Not Travel – Extreme risk. No US government support available. US citizens should not travel to this country.
Advisories are updated as conditions change. Always verify with official sources before travel.
